Proud Supporter of Journey Limitless

By Christina Wight
on June 13, 2016

We are so proud to announce our support for Journey Limitless!

In July 2016 artists and entry-level explorers Simon Pruciak and Alexandra Reddaway are departing for a year long journey around the world on motorbikes.

The objective for the trip is to generate art work which explores the concept of creative geographies (the relationship between Geography and the contemporary Visual Arts) and through participation of different social groups globally to explore this concept through arts education.

Several galleries worldwide already committed to exhibit the work.

The whole journey will be documented through professional photography and video and the progress will be published on regular basis through vlog, blog and social media throughout the journey.

Upon return, alongside the exhibitions of the art work, Simon and Alex will also publish a book (a Hamburg based publisher has already been secured) and produce a film.

Special Events Venue Spotlight: The Tate House

By Christina Wight
on October 05, 2015

Just 45 minutes north of Atlanta is the elegant and romantic pink marble mansion, known as the Tate House. The classic southern romantic fantasy is felt throughout the stately plantation like setting. The gardens invite you to stroll through the centuries old oaks and to host your garden wedding amongst the six flowing fountains and picturesque statues surrounding the Atlanta outdoor wedding site. This North Georgia wedding venue features the 19,000 square foot mansion and 4,000 square foot formal ballroom. It is an excellent example of the “second renaissance revival style,” which is an adaptation of Italian and English classical styles.

The Tate House is listed as the Pink Palace in the National Register of Historic Places, making it the perfect destination for your Georgia historic home wedding. Built as a private estate home by Colonel Sam Tate, land baron, philanthropist and business tycoon in 1926, it is now open as one of the most spectacular Atlanta wedding venues.

In 1834, Samuel Tate purchased the land the Tate House stands on and moved his family from Lumpkin County, Georgia. His son, Stephen Tate, began the mining of marble, which eventually placed Tate, Georgia on the map. It was Stephen Tate’s son, the eldest of his 19 children, known as “Colonel Sam Tate,” who consolidated the marble interests and gained control by 1917. Designed by the International Architectural Firm of Walker and Weeks, Cleveland, Ohio, building began in 1921. Legends were told of a rare, bright pink marble, referred to as “Etowah” marble. In 1920-21, Colonel Sam began watching the rare Etowah Pink Marble that came from the quarry just behind the house.

Setting the matching pieces aside, he began construction of the Pink Marble Mansion. By 1926, Colonel Sam, his brother Luke (family attorney) and sister Florentine resided at the mansion. The second floor has four bedrooms, each featuring its own marbled bathrooms, mantled fireplaces, plus a morning kitchen and an office. The summer kitchen on the first floor has the original triple oak iceboxes and tin sink with butler’s pantry.

Colonel Sam died in 1938 at the age of 78, only 12 years after moving into his house. Neither he, his brother Luke nor his sister Miss Flora ever married. The last of the immediate family left the house in 1955. The house remained unoccupied and neglected until 1974, when Ms. Ann Lard of Arizona discovered it. She purchased the house and began a 10-year restoration project. In January 2001, the estate was purchased by Holbrook Properties, LP. Lois Holbrook and Marsha Mann plan to continue the restoration of the mansion and gardens. Recently named one of the top “must see” places in Georgia by Georgia Magazine, the beautiful pink marble mansion is one of the most photographed homes in Georgia and one of the most popular North Georgia Special Events Venues.

Wedding Experts in the Spotlight: Cheryl-Anne Kast

on October 01, 2015

I had the pleasure to meet Cheryl-Anne and her beautiful family this year. She just has this amazing calming presence- and I could just listen to her South African accent all day. Our little ones became instant friends and after attending her sweet little one's birthday party- I knew she was in her element and an amazing wedding planner.

South African native Cheryl-Anne Kast began her career in the events industry with a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts from The Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Her passion for impeccable cuisine landed her a position as Pastry Chef at the Conran Group’s acclaimed London eatery, Coq d’Argent. With stops at Lambs of Stratford-upon-Avon and the World Service Restaurant in Nottingham, she honed her skills as a Pastry Chef and gained extensive knowledge of catering and events.

In 2006 Cheryl-Anne made a fateful move to the Tarheel State with the opportunity to join the AAA Five Diamond , Forbes Five  Star Fearrington House Restaurant, a Relais & Chateaux treasure nestled in the lush farmland of Pittsboro, NC.

Cheryl-Anne’s attention to detail and vast experience made her a stand out at Fearrington. She made a smooth transition from the kitchen to Catering Manager and Weddings and Special Events Manager where she served thousands of clients over the course of 6 years in creating unique, beautiful, and meaningful weddings, bridal luncheons, private intimate dinners, corporate events, charitable events such as the annual Peter Michael Foundation Charity Auction and Dinner, as well as the prestigious Thomas Keller Dinner in 2013 are just a few of Cheryl-Anne's accomplishments.

In 2015, Cheryl-Anne founded Kast Events LLC, giving her the opportunity to serve a more diverse clientele. Her calm demeanor paired with her flawless attention to detail makes Cheryl-Anne a favorite of brides and hostesses alike. Cheryl-Anne’s clients benefit from her vast experience and valuable relationships with top area vendors, supplying show-stopping floral, inspired menus and rental details that make an event. These relationships create an avenue for successful event design and execution. Whether an intimate event or a lively wedding celebration, Cheryl-Anne’s aesthetic and talent makes her a star within Triangle events industry.
